Maisons Marques et Domaines holds its Annual Portfolio Tasting

Thursday 31st January – London

This year, Maisons Marques et Domaines held their Annual Portfolio Tasting at 8 Northumberland Avenue, a central London venue combining traditional architecture and a modern interior, to complement MMD’s commitment to tradition while always looking to the future. The tasting took place on the 29th January and attracted strong attendance from press and the trade. Visitors had the opportunity to taste over 150 wines, including: Cristal 2008; Chateau Pichon Lalande 2015 and 2006; Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva 2009; Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru 2012; Siepi 2015; Millecento Brunello di Montalcino Reserva 2012 and many more.

With representatives from the vast majority of producers from Maisons Marques et Domaines’ portfolio of family run wineries, guests had the unparalleled opportunity to discuss the wines and the history of the estates in depth, discovering more about their character and latest developments in the wineries, as well as a first hand insight into the current market situation in their region.

The tasting marked the launch of MMD’s newest addition to the portfolio, Domaine Billaud-Simon, which was presented by Head Winemaker, Olivier Bailly. It was also be the first time that MMD showcased the full range from Delas Frères, who joined the portfolio in April 2018, alongside new single vineyard propositions from our French, Italian and New World producers.

The event included masterclasses by Pio Cesare and Delas Frères, where guests tasted their way through some of the finest vineyards of Barolo and Hermitage, as well as an exclusive preview of yet to be released single vineyard wines from both producers.

“We are always extremely pleased to see so many of our trade customers, long-standing as well as new, together with our friends from the press at the MMD Annual Portfolio Tasting. Heralding the start of the year for us at MMD, it is always a great opportunity to showcase new wines and vintages and this year, in particular, new producers as we welcome Delas Frères from the Rhône and Domaine Billaud-Simon from Chablis into the portfolio. It is also a moment for our Principals, producers and customers to reconnect, reflect on the previous year and look forward to what the New Year may bring. While the market in 2019 will no doubt prove to be unpredictable, we are confident that we are well positioned to respond to the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead.” said Richard Billett, Managing Director of Maisons Marques et Domaines.
