Villa Fontana Bardolino 2018

Producer Information

Founded by Giacomo Tommasi in 1902, Tommasi has grown to be the largest family-owned vineyard estate in the Valpolicella Classica, owning 105 hectares and an additional 45 hectares in the Lugana DOC. Tommasi is located in Pedemonte in the heart of the historic ‘Classico’ region, from which the best quality wines are produced. The estate is owned and managed by the fourth generation of the Tommasi family, with six family members working together in harmony. Pierangelo manages the UK market, while winemaker, Giancarlo prefers to stay close the vineyards and winery.

Vineyards

The vineyard of Villa Fontana is situated in the commune of Castelnuovo del Garda. The vines are Guyot-trained and are grown on soils of glacial origin.

Winemaking

The juice was vinified in stainless steel tanks  for 12 days at 23°C with brief pumping over. The wine stayed there for 4 months before bottling.

Tasting Note

A very bright ruby red with delicately fruity aromas of cherries, strawberries, raspberries and hints of spices. On the palate it is dry, fresh and well-balanced, with a persistent tangy note that leaves a rich, fruity aftertaste.

Food Pairing

Classic Italian courses like tortellini, risottos or bean soups. It is an excellent match to grilled sardines, smoked eel and white meat.
