Delas Grignan-Les-Adhémar 2016

Producer Information

Founded 160 years ago in the heart of the northersn Côtes du Rhône, Delas Freres today crafts world class wines from both the northern and southern Rhone.

Tending the steep sloping vineyards, which total some 30ha of vines, the team adapt their growing practices to each plot of vines to let the terroir of the Rhône shine through in the wines.

Crafted by winemaker Jacques Grange (who is originally from Burgundy), the wines from Delas Freres epitomise finesse and elegance. Recent vintages from the vineyards of Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, Côtes-du-Rhône and Côtes-du-Ventoux have bee lauded in the press for their intensity of flavour and excellent value.

Vineyards

This appellation, which corresponds to the former “Coteaux du Tricastin” appellation from the 2010 vintage ownards, and covers 2,200 hectares/5,500 acres, and involves 22 communes on the left bank of the Rhône, running from La Baume-de-Transit in the south, via Saint-Paul-trois-Châteaux, to Granges-Gontardes in the north.

The soils are made up of very stony, old alluviums and sandy-soiled slopes, at the limit of the Mediterranean climate.

Winemaking

Grapes are destemmed and the winemeking takes place in closed tanks over a two week period. Daily pumping over helps with the extraction of colour and tannins. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks.

The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for 8-12 months in order to improve and refine the structure of the wine.

Tasting Note

Elegant ruby red in colour with aromas of red berries such as wild strawberry and raspberry. The wine is supple and seductive on the palate with a delicious, fresh fruit finish.

Food Pairing

The perfect match to barbecued meat, cold cuts, bacon and sausage dishes.
