Quartet Brut, the California sparkling wine produced by Champagne Louis Roederer, builds upon a 200-year tradition of fine winemaking that has made the Champagne among the most sought-after wines in the world.
The Quartet winery is nestled in Mendocino County’s cool, fog-shrouded Anderson Valley. All the grapes for the Anderson Valley wines are grown on the estate which covers 235 hectares.
The winemaking style is based on two elements: ownership of its vineyards and the addition of oak-aged reserve wines to each year’s blend or cuvée. Oak-aged wines from the estate’s reserve cellars are added to the blend, creating a multi-vintage cuvée in the traditional Louis Roederer style. Only the cuvée (first pressing of 120 gallons/ton) is used; no premiere or deuxieme taille. The fermentation takes place in high-grade stainless steel tanks at 18°C. Zero to minimal malolactic fermentation takes place in order to ensure the wines age well and retain the fresh, precise and well-defined style that is one of the characteristics of Roederer Estate wines. The wines are aged for a minimum of two years on the lees.
Quartet is crisp and elegant with complex pear, spice and hazelnut flavours. It is fresh and lightly fruity with great finesse and depth of flavour.
Equally comfortable with candlelight dinners and summer picnics, Quartet Brut is not just for toasting! It's also wonderful with egg dishes (think brunch), sushi, spicy Asian food, fish and white meats with creamy sauces.
