Rapaura Springs (pronounced Ra-para) is a unique oasis in the dry Marlborough landscape with natural underground springs providing a life source for the vines. This pure water enables the vineyards to produce outstanding fruit with minimal intervention. The logo represents the water of the multiple springs that flow from their stony aquifer.
Within Marlborough there are many diverse microclimates and soil types. Rapaura is home to generous ripe fruity flavours: Wairau the pungent exotic fruits and passionfruit, Waihopai Valley and Ward add a flinty minerality to the mix with some citrus and the Awatere Valley giving generous herbaceous notes. They have taken each area’s qualities and blended them to achieve a full harmonious wine with pungent aromas and lovely acidity.
Once pressed, the juice was fermented at cool temperatures to retain the fresh fruit flavours from the vineyard. Rapaura Springs Sauvignon Blanc aims to capture the broad range of expressive flavours found across the Marlborough sub-regions. This wine features all the aromas and freshness that are hallmarks of great Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
2015 was a vintage with ideal ripening conditions. Cool nights and warm, dry, days allowed the fruit to ripen fully and delivered excellent varietal flavours. Marlborough enjoyed a very dry summer. The 2015 vintage has greater concentration than the 2014 but yields are down around 20%.
Pink grapefruit, white nectarine and passionfruit aromas combined with lifted herbal and zesty citrus notes. A textural, fruit driven, wine it offers layer upon layer of delicious citrus and tropical fruit flavours. An underlying, attractive, flinty-ness combines with the tasty fruit flavours and crisp acidity to deliver a long and refreshing finish.
Try with Fish and Chips or a crisp Caesar salad.
