Rosewood Hotels to manage Castiglion del Bosco

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® has been appointed to manage Castiglion del Bosco, the bucolic Italian resort located in Montalcino, Tuscany. Founded by Massimo Ferragamo, the resort is set within one of the oldest and best-preserved estates in Italy and is located in the heart of Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Castiglion del Bosco is an 800-year-old estate comprising the ruins of a castle, a medieval church, and the Borgo, a village that was once an important farming and social hub. The Borgo now forms the heart of the resort and 23 suites are housed within its buildings. The resort also offers 10 villas which have been created from restored farmhouses and feature antique furniture, artisan pieces and modern comforts.

Roederer celebrates launches of Jaeger-leCoultre boutique and Karen Walker perfume

12^th May – A busy day for Louis Roederer! Our first stop was Harvey Nichols where Karen Walker celebrated the launch of her three new perfumes – A, B and C –with Louis Roederer Brut Premier.

The event, attended by Karen Walker aficionados and Harvey Nichols guests, saw Karen herself talking guests through the range with a glass of her favourite champagne to hand.

Next stop: Old Bond Street for another launch – this time the new Jaeger-leCoultre UK flagship store. The beautiful space features a Reverso bar, watchmaker’s station and complication wall showcasing all of the intricate internal workings of these sought-after pieces. As a brand partner, Champagne Louis Roederer was flowing freely all through the night.

Ch Pichon Lalande and Ch de Pez at Goedhuis’ Grand Cru Tasting

On 23^rd April the Saatchi Gallery, London, was besieged by hordes of thirsty fine claret drinkers, keen to sample the impressive line-up of 2012, 2009, 2008 and 2005 vintages from Goedhuis’ impressive selection of top Bordeaux properties including Calon Segur, Cos, Montrose, Grand Puy Lacoste, Lynch Bage, Pichon Baron, Leoville and Langoa Barton, Leoville Poyferre, Issan, Rauzan Segla, Gazin, l’Evangile, La Conseillante, Canon, Domaine de Chevalier, Haut Bailly, Rieussec, CLimens, Suduiraut, Guiraud, as well as Château Pichon Lalande and Château de Pez.

Over 500 guests were treated to the 2008 & 2012 Pichon Lalande, and the 2009 & 2012 Château de Pez.

Pio Cesare ‘Il Bricco’ in Decanter Top 20

In a recent Decanter panel tasting, Ian D’Agata rated Pio Cesare ‘Il Bricco’ Barbaresco 2010 as one of his 20 top Barbarescos to try, scoring the wine an impressive 95 points.

He describes the wine, “High acidity, steely and almost lean, but amazingly perfumed.”

Pez in “Top 10 St-Estèphe”

The 2014 Château de Pez has been awarded 90 points by Steven Spurrier, finding it’s way into Decanter’s Top 10 Bordeaux Catagory.

“Very well-expressed St-Estèphe fruit with natural vigour and elegant structure; very good in 2014.”
