Last Friday we were joined by our friends at @Pioc

Last Friday we were joined by our friends at @Piocesare, Federica and Cesare, who hosted a brilliant digital masterclass for the guests of @quaffwine and @thevineyarddorking ! It was such beautiful experience with lots of swirling, sipping, laughing and white truffle talk!
One of the guests kindly sent us this picture of Pio’s L’Latro Chardonnay bottle with the following caption: “The family spoke about the importance of wine with meals.
Here a picture of your white enjoyed today on our patio with smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and a green leaf and flower salad with lemon peel and olive oil.” Sounds delicious!

The incredible @louisroederer_ Brut Nature Rosé 2012 as captured by @james.suckling ! “Located on the calcareous clay soil hillsides of Cumières, Hautvillers, and Vertus – rich in hard, coarse sandstone – these parcels had no difficulty in resisting the heat and drought in the summer of 2003. In fact, the vineyards produced aromatic, intense, and balanced grapes. The resulting wines are characterised by an optimal aromatic maturity, a creamy texture, and a vibrant freshness. This encouraged us to carry out a series of bottling trials. The wines were fine-tuned in 2003, 2004, and 2005, which culminated in the selection of the first 2006 vintage, which in turn led to the creation of the 2009 – another beautiful sunny year.

The collaboration between Frédéric Rouzaud and Philippe Starck encouraged us to be innovative, stimulating our creativity to such an extent that we pushed the whole process even further: the wine was developed through discussions, words that conjure up images, ideas, concepts… in a quest for the ideal champagne.”

When was the last time you tasted wine from South Africa? It’s been honestly too long for myself.. maybe a year 😬

South Africa’s #Meerlust Estate has been a family operation since 1756. Eight generations on and still going strong, all winemaking is now overseen by Hannes Myburgh. ⁣
⁣
🏰There estate is in #Stellenbosch the countries 2nd oldest region. The climate here is Mediterranean with hot dry summers and cool wet winters.⁣
⁣
🍇The #Chardonnay is sourced from the estates vines that are planted on well drained alluvial soils along the banks of the Eerste River. 🤚The #grapes are hand harvested and were gathered from 6 separate picking stages for optimum ripeness, that is labour intensive! This helps to create complexity within the wine.⁣
⁣
⚓️Winemaking - 50% wild ferment, partially fermented in tight grain Allier French oak and 60% fermented in 2nd fill 300L barrels. Matured for 9 months in barrel before bottling.⁣
⁣
👃A giving nose with ripe fruits, yellow peach, ripe nectarines and pear. Lots of non-fruit here too, oak derived flavours. Hazelnut, dough, butterscotch – for the fans of a full-bodied chardy, this one is for you! The palate has creamy citrus, and white peach, roasted nuts and spice. Lots of flavour packed in tight, oxygen is its friend. Even better on day 2. I reckon this is one for the cellar, leave it for a few years or so! Distributed by @bravenewworld.wine
