Saint-Esprit Red is a C?tes-du-Rh?ne blend led by Syrah with Grenache, produced from the wider C?tes-du-Rh?ne appellation, which covers around 41,200 hectares across six French departements. The region has a Mediterranean climate shaped by the Mistral, a strong wind that is both challenging and beneficial to vine development. Seasonal rainfall, hot temperatures and abundant sunshine define the growing conditions.
Vinification
The entire crop is destemmed. Fermentation and maceration take place in closed vats for approximately 15 days, with daily pumping over to ensure proper extraction. Fermentation temperature is controlled between 28?C and 30?C. After devatting, pressing and racking, malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats. The wines are kept in tanks to preserve fruit aromas and racked regularly to allow natural stabilisation. Saint-Esprit is bottled after eight months of ageing.
Tasting Note
Saint-Esprit Red has a deep colour with a dark, plum-like hue. The nose is classically Syrah-led, showing berry fruit, violet and liquorice. The palate is full and rounded, with ripe fruit, smooth texture and delicate tannins. Medium-bodied and generous, it offers an approachable yet distinctive C?tes-du-Rh?ne profile. The finish is balanced, fruit-led and gently spiced, making it highly versatile for by-the-glass and casual dining.
Food Pairing
Pair with Proven?al-style dishes, stuffed tomatoes, aubergines, mixed grills, barbecued meats, grilled sausages, roast vegetables, pizza or simple bistro dishes.
