Domaine des Gen?ts Vacqueyras is produced from vineyards in the communes of Vacqueyras and Sarrians, within the Vaucluse, extending towards the Dentelles de Montmirail. The soils are alluvial terraces of glacial origin, formed during the Riss period of the Quaternary era. The climate is hot, dry and sunny, giving ripe fruit and structure. Delas Fr?res has worked with Domaine des Gen?ts since 1990, overseeing vineyard management and production across 25 hectares.
Vinification
After destemming and crushing, alcoholic fermentation takes place in closed tanks for around 15 days. Daily pumping over is carried out to support extraction, with fermentation temperatures controlled between 28?C and 30?C. After drawing off and pressing, malolactic fermentation takes place in tanks. The wine is then kept in tank to preserve fruit aromas, with regular racking to allow natural stabilisation. Domaine des Gen?ts is bottled after maturation, which can last up to 12 months.
Tasting Note
Domaine des Gen?ts Vacqueyras is ruby red in colour with bright tinges. The nose is complex, moving from very ripe fruit to black cherry and stone fruit, lifted by a touch of liquorice. The palate is full-bodied and well built, with ripe southern Rh?ne fruit, balanced power and a structured yet approachable texture. The finish is long and persistent, showing the wine?s depth and capacity for further bottle development.
Food Pairing
Pair with Proven?al cuisine, beef in sauce, lamb stew, grilled sausages, roast vegetables, ratatouille, mushroom dishes, game, hard cheeses or rich Mediterranean dishes.
