Domaine Faiveley enters Chablis Region
Domaine Faiveley is proud to announce the purchase of Domaine Billaud-Simon, Chablis, France.
Situated in the heart of the village since 1815, Billaud-Simon is one of the few original domaines in the appellation.
The estate is spread over 20 hectares in the best terroirs, amongst them, four grand crus: Les Clos, Les Preuses, Vaudesir and Les Blanchots, and four premiers crus: Montée de Tonnerre, Mont-de-Milieu, Fourchaume and Vaillons.
”We are delighted and most proud of this recent acquisition”, stated Erwan Faiveley, 7th generation owner of Domaine Faiveley, “Domaine Billaud-Simon is a superb brand in Chablis, and it will be with great pleasure and honour to develop the brand in the future.” Erwan continued, “In the great tradition of Bernard Billaud, we will continue to focus on the outstanding characteristics coming from the Kimmeridgien terrois of Chablis, to create focused precisely-vinified mineral-driven wine.”
See the new Castillo Ygay … virtually!
A video showing the beautiful renovation work Marqués de Murrieta have carried out on their impressive Estate in Rioja Alta.
The original Castillo Ygay, the centrepiece of the estate in the middle of the historic Ygay vineyards, and its attendant buildings have been entirely reconstructed under the auspices of architect Luis Galliusi.
There are new tasting rooms, a museum, a dining room with a kitchen “identical to the one at El Bulli”, Cebrian said, new cellars, a 70,000-bottle library of Murrieta vintages going back to 1852, and a shop with enomatic machines for tasting.
“The only room that has not been changed is the original 1852 bottle cellar” Cebrian said.

Murrieta’s Triple Success at Wines From Spain
Following a gruelling two-day blind tasting of over 700 Spanish wines by a dream team of palates headed up by Tim Atkin MW, the results are were announced last week.
Capellania 2009: their white reserva won “Best Rioja”; Dalmau 2009: their Cabernet-blended reserva and Pazo Barrantes, the family’s Galician Albariño also both charted in the Top 100 within one of the toughest blind tasting competitions for Spanish wines in the UK trade.
Castillo Ygay 2005 – another accolade
Castillo Ygay 2005, Marqués de Murrieta’s iconic Gran Reserva can now add 94 Wine Spectator points to its accolade list, awarded by Tim Fish, Senior Editor of Wine Spectator in the July edition.
