Champagne Louis Roederer
Champagne Louis Roederer is one of Champagne’s most respected independent family-owned houses, founded in 1776 and based in Reims. Now led by seventh-generation Frédéric Rouzaud and Cellar Master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Louis Roederer is known for Cristal, Cristal Rosé, Vintage and Collection expressions, crafted from the three signature grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. Backed by an exceptional estate vineyard base across the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs, Champagne Louis Roederer offers a benchmark expression of Champagne rooted in precision, sustainability and long-term vineyard ownership.

Collection 246 is built from three key Louis Roederer Champagne estates: one third from La Rivière, one third from La Montagne and one third from La Côte”. Grapes from Louis Roederer’s own vineyards are complemented by fruit from selected partner winegrower plots. This combination gives the blend breadth, freshness and balance, reflecting the house?s long-standing approach to estate-led Champagne production and precise sourcing across the Champagne terroirs.
Vinification
Collection 246 is composed of 55% wines from the 2021 harvest, supported by 35% Perpetual Reserve from 2012 to 2020 and 10% reserve wines aged in oak from 2012 to 2017. In total, 24% of the wines are vinified in oak, while 30% undergo malolactic fermentation. The dosage is 7g/l. The Perpetual Reserve provides balance and freshness, while oak-aged reserve wines add depth and the house’s signature complexity.
MV - 246
Collection 246 is based on the 2021 harvest, the 246th harvest at Louis Roederer. The season was challenging and demanding, remembered as one of the most difficult winegrowing years since 1958. The vineyard team?s work was essential in the face of low yields and complicated conditions. Harvest took place from 13 to 30 September 2021. The resulting Champagne is shaped by freshness, precision and the balancing influence of reserve wines.
Tasting Note
Wine colour is bright with luminous reflections and very fine, even bubbles. The nose reveals yellow fruit, mirabelle plum, nectarine and candied lemon, layered with vanilla, toast and subtle shellfish notes from oak vinification and reserve wines. The palate is precise and delicate, with peach, pollen, creamy bubbles and a fresh, chalk-driven texture. Chardonnay brings finesse, salinity and lift, while the finish is graceful, smoky, toasty and persistent.
Food Pairing
Pair with oysters, crab, scallops, smoked salmon, roast chicken, Comte, sushi, seafood tempura or a delicate mushroom tart.
