Les Launes White Crozes-Hermitage is a blend of 80% Marsanne and around 20% Roussanne. Crozes-Hermitage is the largest Northern Rhone appellation, covering 11 communes on the left bank of the Rhone. Soils range from northern granite subsoils continuing from Hermitage to southern fluvio-glacial alluvium, terraces of rolled stones from the former riverbed and loess. Hillside areas benefit from southerly exposure, with the Mistral as the dominant wind.
Vinification
After hand harvesting, the grapes are brought to the winery in small boxes. Gentle pressing is followed by fermentation in closed tanks at low temperatures of 16-18C to bring out the aromatic complexity of Marsanne and Roussanne. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is racked and matured on lees to develop richness and structure while preserving varietal character. Bottling takes place around mid-April, retaining freshness and fruit clarity.
Tasting Note
Les Launes White is bright in colour with a golden hue. The nose is expressive, showing hawthorn, lemon verbena and linden, alongside lychee, mango and citrus fruit. The palate is fresh and fruity, with a soft, appealing texture and clear aromatic lift. Medium-bodied and balanced, it combines floral detail, ripe fruit and freshness. The finish is clean, bright and gently rounded.
Food Pairing
Pair with steamed fish, fish in sauce, chicken with apricot or peach, duck, rinded cheeses, seafood pasta, roast poultry or vegetable gratin.
