Domaine des Tourettes White Hermitage is a blend from three Hermitage terroirs: L’Ermite, Le Sabot and La Tourette. The vineyard spans Tain-l’Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Larnage. Soils combine granite, alluvial quaternary delta deposits and Pliocene marl, explaining the diversity of Hermitage lieux-dits, including Bessards, Greffieux, Meal, Roucoule and Beaumes. Protected from northern winds, the slopes are well exposed to the sun and face south.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in two stages. The juice is pressed ‘a la champenoise’, separating free-run juice and press juice. After light racking, the must is transferred to barrels, either new or previously used for one or two vintages, for alcoholic fermentation. To preserve freshness on the finish, malolactic fermentation is sometimes only partially completed. The wine is fermented and aged in barrel for 9 to 12 months on lees, with regular stirring. It is blended two months before bottling, then settled and racked into tank.
Tasting Note
Pale yellow in colour with green tints, bright hue and good density. The nose shows floral notes supported by candied citrus fruit, with fine oak notes of vanilla and toasted brioche. The palate is powerful, concentrated and opulent, balanced by freshness and mineral character. Full-bodied and structured, it combines richness with precision. The finish is long, fresh and aromatic, showing the depth of white Hermitage.
Food Pairing
Pair with chicken with morels, quail with truffle, grilled sea bass with citrus, roast poultry, scallops, lobster, mushroom dishes, Comt? or other fine cheeses.
