Hommage a William Deutz Meurtet 2018 is a single-plot Champagne from the Meurtet plot in Ay Grand Cru. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, it expresses a pure, delicate and balanced vision of the great Pinot Noirs of Ay. In 2018, the plot delivered generous yields and grapes rich in sugars while maintaining balanced acidity, giving a wine of elegance, freshness and richness shaped by the specific character of this terroir.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested between 3 and 5 September 2018. Malolactic fermentation is completed, supporting creaminess and balance. The wine was bottled on 25 June 2019 and aged for six years in cellar, giving texture, aromatic integration and length. A dosage of 5.6g/l preserves purity and freshness while supporting the wine?s graceful Pinot Noir structure.
2018
The 2018 vintage was defined by exceptional weather. Radiant summer sunshine enabled full grape ripening while maintaining excellent sanitary conditions. On the Meurtet plot, conditions produced generous yields and grapes with good sugar concentration and balanced acidity. The resulting wine is expressive, delicate and refined, combining freshness, richness and the distinctive elegance of Ay Grand Cru Pinot Noir.
Tasting Note
Pale gold in colour. The nose is vibrant and delicate, with redcurrant and wild strawberry, highlighting the finesse of A? Pinot Noir. The palate is velvety, creamy, elegant and fresh, with juicy vine peach and mango bringing a fleshy fruit dimension. Salinity gives precision and length, while a savoury, mouthwatering edge maintains tension. The finish is long, fresh and balanced.
Food Pairing
Pair with veal sweetbreads, puff pastry, mushroom filling, champagne and shallot sauce, roast veal, poultry, scallops or delicate dishes with creamy textures.
