Cuvee William Deutz 2014 is a vintage Champagne built around great Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims, supported by Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. The blend is 67% Pinot Noir from Ay, including La Cote Glaciere, Bouzy and Verzenay; 28% Chardonnay from Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Chouilly and Villers-Marmery; and 5% Pinot Meunier from Chamery. This combination gives structure, nobility, generosity and gastronomic depth.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested in September 2014. Malolactic fermentation is completed, supporting texture and balance. The wine was bottled on 26 June 2015 and aged for ten years in cellar, allowing its fruit, structure and savoury complexity to integrate fully. A dosage of 7g/l brings harmony and supports the cuvee’s broad, noble and gastronomic profile.
2014
Spring 2014 brought ideal flowering conditions, with consistent gentle warmth and dry weather. September proved decisive, as renewed sunshine enabled rapid and even ripening. The grapes were harvested under ideal conditions, with impeccable health and remarkable natural balance. The 2014 vintage is considered noble in style, producing wines that are precise, structured and generous, with the depth and freshness suited to long cellar ageing.
Tasting Note
The nose opens with a dense, warm bouquet of stewed exotic fruit, roasted hazelnut, frangipane and liquorice, with hints of pepper and turmeric. The palate is broad and enveloping, with noble substance and refined richness. Candied fruit, liquorice and toasted notes develop within a structured framework. Generous yet precise, it finishes long and continuous, showing the depth of the vintage and the imprint of great terroirs.
Food Pairing
Pair with mango and avocado prawn ceviche, roast, poultry, shellfish, aged cheeses or refined gastronomy.
