Ramos Pinto
Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 by brothers Adriano and Antonio, bringing a new era of quality wine production to the Douro. Ramos Pinto’s long and distinguished history was further strengthened when the house became part of the Louis Roederer Family in 1990 who share the family history, focus on quality and investment in the future. Today, Adriano and Antonio’s descendants Jorge and Ana Rosas continue their pioneering spirit and search for the highest quality in the Douro as CEO and Master Blender respectively.

Ramos Pinto manages 187 hectares of prime vineyards in the Alto Corgo and Douro Superior, giving the house strong control over viticulture and harvest timing. Collector Reserve is produced from traditional Douro red grape varieties grown in the mountainous Douro valley. The region?s warm climate, steep vineyard slopes and schist-influenced soils produce grapes with ripe fruit, depth of colour and the natural structure required for a rich, generous Reserve Port.
Vinification
The must is fermented with maceration and automatic pumping over to achieve effective extraction of colour, fruit and structure. After four to five days, fermentation is stopped through the addition of spirit, preserving natural sweetness and fruit concentration. The wine is then racked and does not undergo hot or cold treatment or filtration. The final blend has an average age of five years, giving a mature yet fruit-driven Reserve Port style.
Tasting Note
The wine is deep dark brick red in colour. The nose is rich and ripe, with dark fruit, prune, fig, blackberry and cherry. The palate is full-bodied and generous, showing warm fruit, smooth sweetness and a mellow, rounded texture. Ripe black fruit and dried fruit notes carry through the mid-palate, supported by soft structure. The finish is sweet, ripe and persistent, with an accessible Reserve Port profile.
Food Pairing
Pair with chocolate desserts, red fruit puddings, medium-bodied cheeses, ham, duck, game dishes, Black Forest g?teau, fig tart or mature Cheddar.
