Ramos Pinto
Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 by brothers Adriano and Antonio, bringing a new era of quality wine production to the Douro. Ramos Pinto’s long and distinguished history was further strengthened when the house became part of the Louis Roederer Family in 1990 who share the family history, focus on quality and investment in the future. Today, Adriano and Antonio’s descendants Jorge and Ana Rosas continue their pioneering spirit and search for the highest quality in the Douro as CEO and Master Blender respectively.

Ramos Pinto manages 187 hectares of vineyards across the Alto Corgo and Douro Superior. Quinta do Bom Retiro is one of the house?s key Douro estates and provides wines with the depth and structure required for extended wood ageing. The estate?s location in the Douro valley, with steep vineyard slopes and schist-influenced soils, supports concentration, freshness and complexity in the base wines used for mature Tawny Port.
Vinification
Quinta do Bom-Retiro 20 Year Old Tawny is made from wines from Quinta do Bom Retiro and blended to an average age of 20 years. Long wood ageing develops mature fruit, spice, vanilla and complex oxidative character. The final balance is shaped by the head of the tasting room, whose blending work brings together freshness, sweetness, depth and texture in a sophisticated aged Tawny Port style.
Tasting Note
The wine is tawny in colour with red tints. The nose is complex and mature, showing luscious fruit, dried fruit, spice and vanilla. The palate is sweet, multi-layered and smooth, with mellow dried fruit, dark fruit and deep spice. Full-bodied and polished, it combines richness with freshness and a refined aged-wood character. The finish is very long, savoury and persistent.
Food Pairing
Serve as an aperitif or after dinner. Pair with chocolate desserts, cream-based puddings, tarte tatin, cr?me caramel, walnut tart, aged cheeses or less-sweet patisserie.
