Ramos Pinto
Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 by brothers Adriano and Antonio, bringing a new era of quality wine production to the Douro. Ramos Pinto’s long and distinguished history was further strengthened when the house became part of the Louis Roederer Family in 1990 who share the family history, focus on quality and investment in the future. Today, Adriano and Antonio’s descendants Jorge and Ana Rosas continue their pioneering spirit and search for the highest quality in the Douro as CEO and Master Blender respectively.

Duas Quintas Reserva Tinto 2022 is made from selected plots at Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta dos Bons Ares in the Upper Douro. The wine brings together the character of two contrasting estates: Ervamoira, with its warmer lower-altitude Douro Superior conditions, and Bons Ares, a cooler higher-altitude site. This combination of maturity and freshness, structure and lift, is central to the Duas Quintas Reserva style, giving the wine concentration, aromatic definition and mineral freshness.
Vinification
Grapes from selected plots at Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta dos Bons Ares were harvested and separated by hand into small boxes. Fruit from Ervamoira was vinified in granite lagares, while grapes from Bons Ares were fermented in concrete and wooden vats. After pressing, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in 6,000 to 10,000-litre barrels. It was aged for 16 months, with 70% in large barrels, 20% in new French oak and 10% in one-year-old French oak. Bottling took place in June 2024.
2022
The 2022 vintage was extremely dry, with rainfall less than half that of the previous year. Quinta de Ervamoira experienced a slightly milder summer than Quinta dos Bons Ares, where temperatures remained high from late spring through to the end of summer. Despite heat and severe drought, grape health was strong. Maturation followed an unusual pattern, with lower sugar, alcohol and acidity, but greater concentration and volume. The resulting wine balances freshness, fruit, structure and depth.
Tasting Note
The wine is clear, bright ruby with vivid red reflections. The nose is profound and mature, showing plum, redcurrant and blackberry. As it opens, fresher, sweeter aromas emerge, including violet and cistus, characteristic of Touriga Nacional, the dominant variety in the blend. Well-integrated oak brings a subtle coconut note and light smoke. The palate is elegant and fine, with a soft entry, fresh raspberry and strawberry, very soft tannins and a long, mineral finish.
Food Pairing
Pair with grilled red meat, aged T-bone steak, Mirandesa beef, oven-roasted cod, braised pork cheeks in red wine, stuffed turkey, moussaka or Serra da Estrela cheese.
