Deutz Extra Brut NV is a blend of 46% Chardonnay, 31% Pinot Noir and 23% Pinot Meunier. Reserve wines represent 58% of the blend, bringing depth, complexity and continuity. Chardonnay gives precision and freshness, Pinot Noir contributes structure and roundness, while Pinot Meunier supports fruit and approachability in this low-dosage interpretation of the Deutz style.
Vinification
Deutz Extra Brut completes malolactic fermentation and receives extended cellar ageing for four years. The low dosage of 3g/l allows the wine?s purity, mineral backbone and fruit definition to remain at the forefront. Longer lees ageing contributes a silky texture, depth and aromatic complexity, while preserving the tension, precision and elegance expected from Extra Brut Champagne.
Tasting Note
Deep golden in colour, with a remarkably fine stream of bubbles. The nose is precise and elegant, opening with white flowers and hawthorn, followed by toasted bread, almond paste, ripe apple and pear. Lees ageing brings hints of brioche and dried fruit. The palate is tense, refined and mineral, with vibrant fruit, silky texture and subtle notes of toasted brioche, nuts and honey. The finish is long, persistent and elegant.
