Marqués de Murrieta is one of Rioja’s most historic estates, founded in 1852 by Luciano Francisco Ramón de Murrieta in Rioja Alta. On arrival at the winery, the grapes are destemmed and carefully selected. Each grape variety ferments separately for around 10 days in 13,900-litre Allier French oak vats at controlled temperature. During fermentation, regular pumping over and d?lestage are carried out to ensure complete extraction of polyphenolic compounds. The wine is aged for 17 months in Allier French oak barrels, followed by 13 months in concrete vats before bottling.
Tasting Note
Intensely scented nose with hints of blueberrie, red plum, thyme, cedar and black pepper. Splendid palate, wide, welldefined with a long juicy finish. Seductive match of strength and finesse.
