Ramos Pinto
Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 by brothers Adriano and Antonio, bringing a new era of quality wine production to the Douro. Ramos Pinto’s long and distinguished history was further strengthened when the house became part of the Louis Roederer Family in 1990 who share the family history, focus on quality and investment in the future. Today, Adriano and Antonio’s descendants Jorge and Ana Rosas continue their pioneering spirit and search for the highest quality in the Douro as CEO and Master Blender respectively.
Read MoreVinification
The grapes are hand-picked and selected in the vineyard, then traditionally vinified with light skin maceration. Ageing takes place in oak casks and small wooden barrels in the Ramos Pinto cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. This long maturation in wood develops the wine?s mature golden colour, layered aromatic complexity and smooth texture, while preserving the freshness required to balance the richness of a 20 Year Old White Port.
Tasting Note
The wine has an intense golden colour with a brilliant, clear cognac-gold hue. The nose is complex and elegant, with dried apricot, toasted hazelnut, orange peel, honey, beeswax and cedar. The palate is velvety and enveloping, combining sweetness with freshness and mature wood-aged depth. Full-bodied and refined, it shows dried fruit, nut and citrus-peel complexity. The finish is harmonious, persistent and finely balanced.
Food Pairing
Serve as an aperitif with foie gras, or pair with nut-based desserts, egg custard tart, mandarin sorbet, almond pastries, strong cheeses, aged Comt? or blue cheese.
