Ramos Pinto
Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 by brothers Adriano and Antonio, bringing a new era of quality wine production to the Douro. Ramos Pinto’s long and distinguished history was further strengthened when the house became part of the Louis Roederer Family in 1990 who share the family history, focus on quality and investment in the future. Today, Adriano and Antonio’s descendants Jorge and Ana Rosas continue their pioneering spirit and search for the highest quality in the Douro as CEO and Master Blender respectively.

Duas Quintas Douro Tinto is produced in the Upper Douro from Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta dos Bons Ares. Quinta de Ervamoira sits at around 150 metres altitude and contributes maturity, body and ripe fruit. Quinta dos Bons Ares, at around 600 metres altitude, brings freshness, lift and aromatic definition. Made from traditional Douro grape varieties, the wine expresses the contrast between these two estates and the potential of this distinctive sub-region.
Vinification
Plot by plot, grapes are tasted in the vineyard to determine the ideal harvest date. At the winery, fruit is sorted by variety and parcel, crushed, destemmed and directed to granite lagares, large oak vats, concrete or stainless steel vats. Maceration is adapted to achieve the desired body and structure. After malolactic fermentation, 20% of the wine ages in French oak barrels, 30% in large oak vats and 50% in stainless steel for around 12 months.
2023
The 2023 growing cycle began early, supported by winter rainfall and high temperatures at the start of spring. Conditions stabilised until the end of May, followed by rain in June and a hot, dry July and August. Heavy rain from the second half of September made the end of harvest more challenging. Quinta de Ervamoira ripened successfully between mid-August and mid-September, while the red harvest at Quinta dos Bons Ares ran through September.
Tasting Note
The wine is dark red with garnet highlights. The nose is expressive and complex, combining ripe blackcurrant and cherry jam with violet and a subtle lightly roasted coffee note. The palate is lively and fresh, with red fruit at the centre and a medium-bodied, elegant structure. Soft tannins and freshness carry the fruit through the palate. The finish is long, fresh and gently spiced.
