Domaines Schlumberger
Domaines Schlumberger is a historic Alsace wine estate based in Guebwiller, France, founded in 1810 and known for estate-grown Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Alsace Grand Cru wines. With 140 hectares under vine, including significant holdings in Grand Cru Kitterlé, Kessler, Saering and Spiegel, Domaines Schlumberger is one of the most important names in Alsace, the estate offers a clear reference point for premium Alsace wine, combining scale, single-estate production, sustainable viticulture and distinctive hillside terroirs.

Grand Cru Kitterlé occupies a dramatic volcanic-sandstone spur above Guebwiller, facing south-west, south and south-east. The vineyard sits between 270 and 360 metres, on steep terraces retained by dry-stone walls, with poor, light, sandy and porous soils that restrict yields. Its exposure gives exceptional sunshine, while the Vosges provide shelter from northern winds. Pinot Gris benefits from the more aerated, south-facing sectors, producing concentrated, structured and age-worthy Alsace Grand Cru wines.
Vinification
The grapes were hand-picked and pressed as whole bunches. After static settling of the lees, fermentation took place in temperature-controlled tuns. The wine was then raised on lees for eight months, allowing texture and integration to develop while preserving the incisive acidity, aromatic clarity and mineral precision of Grand Cru Kitterl? Riesling.
Tasting Note
Lemon yellow with light green reflections, this Grand Cru Kitterl? Riesling shows yuzu zest, lemon, white flowers and a fine smoky, flinty note. With air, lemongrass and ginger add further complexity to the wine. The palate is dense, fleshy and incisive, with citrus, spice, subtle pearling and a mineral thread of gunflint. The fine vegetal finish is long and lively, expressing the site with precision and restraint.
Food Pairing
Pair with fresh anchovies marinated in lemon, skate wing salad, grilled lobster, or goat?s milk cheese such as Selles-sur-Cher. Its mineral tension suits precise seafood dishes.
