Rapaura Springs (pronounced Ra-para) is a unique oasis in the dry Marlborough landscape with natural underground springs providing a life source for the vines. This pure water enables the vineyards to produce outstanding fruit with minimal intervention. The logo represents springs water flowing from their stony aquifer.
The Rapaura Springs Reserve Sauvignon Blanc is a selection of the best parcels from the harvest, resulting in a sub-regional blend of wines. It has been made to showcase the diversity of the flavours produced in Marlborough wine. Rapaura is home to generous ripe fruity flavours, lower and upper Wairau to pungent exotic fruits and passionfruit, the Waihopai adds a flinty minerality to the mix.
The wines were fermented in stainless steel using a selection of specifically proven Sauvignon Blanc yeast strains at a selection of temperature ranges to create a wine of complexity and youthful vibrancy. Ferments were closely monitored and stopped when all components were in balance.
The grapes were hand picked between 2nd-14th April 2013.
Clean, fresh citrus and ripe tropical fruit flavours combine with crisp acidity and herbal notes to define a great Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The palate shows pronounced fruit flavours, is beautifully weighted and has a lovely line of acidity. The expressive flavours are underscored by an attractive flinty, or mineral, aspect to add interest and complexity. All combined, these characters give this wine its great appeal.
Ideal with seafood, especially shellfish and oysters. It also has the strength of palate to compliment white meats and some Asian style dishes.
