Rapaura Springs Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Producer Information

Rapaura Springs (pronounced Ra-para) is a unique oasis in the dry Marlborough landscape with natural underground springs providing a life source for the vines. This pure water enables the vineyards to produce outstanding fruit with minimal intervention. The logo represents the water of the multiple springs that flow from their stony aquifer.

Vineyards

Within Marlborough there are many diverse microclimates and soil types. Rapaura is home to generous ripe fruity flavours: Wairau the pungent exotic fruits and passionfruit, Waihopai Valley and Ward add a flinty minerality to the mix with some citrus and the Awatere Valley giving generous herbaceous notes. They have taken each area’s qualities and blended them to achieve a full harmonious wine with pungent aromas and lovely acidity.

Winemaking

Once harvested, the fruit was gently pressed and the juice fermented at cool temperatures to capture the vibrant fruit flavours from the vineyards. Rapaura Springs Sauvignon Blanc has a broad range of fine fruit flavours from each of the Marlborough sub-regions.

Vintage Information

The 2019 Marlborough growing season had a slow start with below average temperatures and higher rainfall resuting in cooler ground temperatures. Strong, even growth followed in the lead up to flowering and adverse weather events saw a mixed fruit set impacting yields. Our summer was New Zealand’s warmest on record with extended hot and dry weather resulting in advanced ripening and an earlier than average start to harvest.

Tasting Note

Pure and vibrant with layers of delicious tropical and citrus fruits and hints of Jalapeno and blackcurrant leaf. Fresh fruit flavours and crisp acidity combine to deliver a long and refreshing finish. A quintessential Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, it’s sure to impress.

Food Pairing

Try with grilled fish and herb butter, a crisp Caesar salad or the favourite fish and chips!
