Maisons Marques et Domaines’ National Accounts Director, Charles Taverner, has successfully completed the L’Étape du Tour 2016, a gruelling 122km cycle ride over 3 famous ‘Cols’ in the Alps, undertaken in 32 degree baking heat alongside fellow members of the wine trade from Liberty Wines, Bibendum and Hatch Mansfield.
The L’Étape du Tour covers the same routes and conditions as the Tour de France: the same stage towns, the same routes and, of course, the same mythical climbs. With 23 editions under its belt and over 15,000 participants, L’Étape du Tour is now Europe’s benchmark cyclosportive event.
Including his bike ride to and from Geneva Airport for the event itself, Charles scaled 6200m over a distance of 310km, cycling for over 12 hours in total.
