Tommasi’s passion for wine, and the desire to discover and select the very best of Italian winemaking, has taken them to Puglia. Around 80 hectares of land have been purchased in Manduria, in the Salento area, one of the finest zones for the cultivation of the Primitivo grape, where viticulture has extremely ancient origins, dating back to the time of Magna Graecia.
The property, which lies about 6 km from the Ionian coast, also includes a manor house called “Masseria” dating back to the early 1900s, a typical complex of agricultural buildings which originally acted as an organisational centre for all of the farming operations. Following refurbishment, the Masseria now houses a winery of 700 sqm complete with vinification and maturation facilities.
From the vineyards of Masseria Surani, in the Salento Region. The vines are Guyot-trained and organically grown; the soils are limestone-based and are rich in iron.
Fermentation for 15 days of the free-run juice at a low temperature (no more than 12°C), in stainless steel vats. Around 4 months’ bottle-aging.
Bright straw yellow color, even very intense, with nuances of greenish yellow, it has an elegant, intense nose, with aromas of hawthorn and acacia blossoms that give way to a fruity weave of citrons, mandarins and tropical fruit.
Starters, salads, soups and fish.
Serve at 10-12°C.
