Domaines Ott By. Ott Rosé Côtes De Provence 2022

Producer Information

Domaines Ott* was founded in 1912 by Marcel Ott, an agricultural engineer from Alsace who dreamed of establishing a great wine estate near the Mediterranean. Today, the wineries are owned and managed by Champagne Louis Roederer and produce some of the world’s most prestigious wines, but particularly rosé wines, made at distinctively different estates in Bandol and Côtes de Provence appellations. Regarded as the “gold standard of rosé” by The Wall Street Journal, in 2016 Domaines Ott* has released a new cuvée, By. Ott.

Winemaking

Made in Château de Selle’s completely new cellar, part of the winery is exclusively dedicated to making By. Ott. The grapes are hand picked, followed by strict and selective sorting on tables and an extremely delicate pressing process of whole bunches with a super short maceration to produce the beautiful light colour. Slow fermentation takes place in thermo-regulated vats.

Vintage Information

Once again, the 2022 vintage did not bring much water to the Provençal vineyards.

This was very difficult for the vine and was also a real challenge for the winegrower. Over the course of its history, Domaines Ott* has evolved to cope well in such
conditions. With low rainfall levels up until late June and very high summer temperatures, all of the efforts were focused on keeping the clusters in an environment that was as cool as possible. The long-awaited rainfall did not arrive until the 17th August which was the very first day of harvesting.
All of the grapes were in the cellars by the 29th September.

Tasting Note

Pastel pink hue with soft, rosewood tints.
The wine displays a fresh nose redolent of red berries, citrus fruits and white blossom.
It is luscious and fruity on the palate with a smooth and silky mouthfeel. Fresh notes of citrus zest accompany the persistent finish.

Food Pairing

All Mediterranean cuisine.
