Ramos Pinto were the original pioneers of quality winemaking in the Douro, a legacy that lives on today and has been adopted throughout the region.
Duas Quintas gets its name from the two estates the fruit is grown for the wines – Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta do Bons Ares. Ervamoira lies in a rocky area on the banks of the river Côa, where the weather is hot and dry. This adds density and body to the wines. It was the first Quinta in the Douro where, in contrast to tradition, individual vineyard blocks were planted with a single variety, selected for the grape’s most appropriate soil and climate. Bons Ares is a granite vineyard of higher elevation with cool growing conditions, adding freshness and vivacity.
Duas Quintas wines really showcase the best that the Douro has to offer, full-bodied, full of fresh fruit (mixed berries, plums) with excellent tannins that provide structure and a long finish.
Duas Quintas of the name refers to the two Ramos Pinto Douro vineyards where the grapes for this wine are grown. The hotter Quinta de Ervamoira produces ripe rich flavoured fruit while the high altitude Quinta dos Bons Ares adds freshness and balance.
The grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winemaking centre in small boxes, separated by variety and vineyard; the must is obtained by direct pressing after cold maceration. The clean must was fermented in stainless steel vats at low temperature (90%) and the rest in French and Austrian oak casks of varying capacities (10%). This wine was bottled between March and April 2024.
The growing season began early thanks to the large volume of volume available within the soil following a rainy winter. High temperatures at the start of spring had stabilised by May and there was very little rainfall until summer, which was marked by rain in June. July and August were hot and dry until heavy rains fell in the second half of September, just after harvest. The white grapes in 2023 showed particularly impressive aromatic potential, Rabigato especially, which is dominant in the blend.
Pale with light gold-green reflections. Aromas of lemons, herbs and white flowers finishing with a slight spice. A dry palate with hints of ripe golden fruit and a lemon finish.
Excellent when served as an aperitif or an accompaniment with smoked fish, dry-cured ham, mushroom risottos or roast chicken.
Serve between 12º and 14º C. Store the bottle on its side in a cool, dry and dark place.
