Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc Named Master in DB Global Competition!

We are delighted to announce that the Merry Edwards Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2018 has been selected as a Master in the Drinks Business Global Sauvignon Blanc Masters, scoring an outstanding 95 points!

The Judges of the 2020 competition were Patrick Schmitt MW, David Round MW and Patricia Stefanowicz MW and they gave the wine the following tasting note:

“Lemon yellow. Lovely nose, creamy, layered, with beeswax, pear, toast and vanilla.

Palate too, lovely, touch of elderflower, ripe sweet pear, peach, toast, cream, cinnamon, nuts and long fresh finish, with tangerine and hint of lime. Not harsh, but bright, with oily core, and integrated fine oak. Delicious.”

At home in the Russian River Valley since 1977, Merry Edwards has meticulously explored its hills, pockets, slopes and hollows, discovering small sites which, with the right rootstock, clone and farming techniques, produce exceptional quality grapes. Merry Edwards has been Certified Sustainable since 2017 and all wines are vegan friendly.

The Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in 18% new oak Tonnellerie Cadus barrels. Elevage in barrel also allows for Merry Edwards’ biweekly lees-stirring (for six months) protocol, which is vital for developing this characterful Sauvignon’s rich mouthfeel.
