This Burgundian domaine has been a family estate for nearly 200 years. Erwan Faiveley, 7th generation, took the reins in 2006 from his father when he was only 25. They have earned their reputation as one of Burgundy’s finest and most trusted, with an unparalleled selection from the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise totalling over 120 hectares.
The story tells how the Lord of Puligny divided out his lands between his children, giving his son what became the ‘Chevalier-Montrachet’ and his daughters inheriting ‘Les Pucelles’. Yet the story also tells how he held his illegitimate ‘bastard’ son in great affection. This son received, in addition to a plot like his half-brother and his two half-sisters, two other plots including ‘Bienvenues’ (Welcome), which in the choice of its name shows the really special endearment the Lord had for this child.

The hand-picked harvest goes through a short prefermentary maceration first, before being vinified in part in wooden tronconic vats. The wine is then matured in oak barrels for 14-16 months, in nineteenth century vaulted cellars which provide ideal conditions for raising wines. The proportion of new oak, which is susceptible to variations according to the vintage, represents on average two thirds of the cuvée. The barrels, which come from high quality barrel makers, have been rigorously selected for their fine grain and light toast.
The 2013 is defined by its remarkable freshness and structure. The wines exude notes of crunchy red fruits and offer an exceptional reflection of their terroir.
This wine’s very scented nose is not lacking in character or roundness. We recognize the balance and the harmonious finish of the great white wines of Burgundy. With white fruit and citrus notes, it will evolve with the years and has great cellaring potential.
