This Burgundian domaine has been a family estate for nearly 200 years. Erwan Faiveley, 7th generation, took the reins in 2006 from his father when he was only 25. They have earned their reputation as one of Burgundy’s finest and most trusted, with an unparalleled selection from the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise totalling over 120 hectares.
Fleurie is one of the best known of the ten Beaujolais crus. Located in the northern part of Beaujolais, the appellation covers the vineyards in the commune of Fleurie, on the western slopes of the Beaujolais hills. Fleurie wines are some of the most highly regarded – made from the Gamay grape variety.
The producers Faiveley are in partnership with entrust them with wines from rigorously selected plots. The harvest is vinifed by these producers and the wine is then raised in vats for around ten months.
Fairly classic on the whole, the wines have a beautiful colour characteristic of Gamay. They impress with their intense aromas, their concentration and high acidity. The wines are low in tannins and remain flexible, sweet and very charming.
This wine has delicate floral scents on the nose. On the palate, it proves to be solid and firmly structured by the strength of its tannins which give it interesting cellaring potential. Its structure is nicely balanced by the Gamay’s elegance, which gives it a certain complexity and allows it to accompany a wide range of dishes.
