Marsannay “Les Echezeaux” 2017

Producer Information

This Burgundian domaine has been a family estate for nearly 200 years. Erwan Faiveley, 7th generation, took the reins in 2006 from his father when he was only 25. They have earned their reputation as one of Burgundy’s finest and most trusted, with an unparalleled selection from the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise totalling over 120 hectares.

Vineyards

«Marceniacum» (IVth century) would probably come from «Marcenus», name of the owner of a Roman villa located on the site. History tells us that the vineyard previously belonged to the monks of Bèze.

Winemaking

The grapes, harvested by hand, are transported carefully in the cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges. For 12-14 months the wine is aged in the cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges and enjoys the same attention as the other wines. The barrels come from high quality barrel makers and have been rigorously selected for their fine grain and middle toast.

Vintage Information

2017 is an early vintage. Harvests started on August 29th, the grape clusters were dense and compact thanks to excellent flowering in late May. Favourable climate conditions gave charm and generosity to the wines. 2017 is a classic style of vintage that can also be enjoyed in its youth.

Tasting Note

With its intense ruby red hue, our Marsannay “Les Echezeaux” reveals red fruits and notes of prune on the nose. The palate is rich and tannic, a sign of excellent ageing potential.
