This Burgundian domaine has been a family estate for nearly 200 years. Erwan Faiveley, 7th generation, took the reins in 2006 from his father when he was only 25. They have earned their reputation as one of Burgundy’s finest and most trusted, with an unparalleled selection from the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise totalling over 120 hectares.
Saint-Véran is an appellation for dry white wines produced in the southern half of the Maconnais sub-region of Burgundy. The appellation is roughly divided into two islands, separated by the vineyards of Pouilly-Fuissé. As the southernmost appellation of Burgundy, Saint-Véran overlaps slightly with the northern edge of Beaujolais.
This wine comes from carefully selected plots which are nicely spread out over this appellation. Faiveley regularly carry out quality checks on each plot they have reserved allowing them assurance of the quality of the grapes and the professionalism of the producers they are in partnership with. The wine is then aged on its fine lees for 8-10 months in the cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges, enabling it to acquire a certain suppleness and more complex aromas.
The climatic conditions of 2012 were beneficial to the vintage: intense cold in February, a cool spring and bright sunshine in August. It offers wines that are very concentrated, well-balanced and particularly tasty.
A brilliant pale yellow colour. The nose is fresh and elegant with varied white flower and citrus fruit aromas. This wine is very expressive and round on the palate giving a nice sensation of freshness. It has beautiful liveliness and very long-lasting aromas which make it a very pleasurable fine wine.
